Benson Hill (IP acquired by Confluence Genetics)

Benson Hill combined computational biology with plant science to develop improved crop varieties, particularly high-protein soybeans that eliminate the need for hexane extraction. After going public via SPAC in 2021, the company filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection and its intellectual property subsequently folded into Confluence Genetics — the St. Louis startup that launched the Cas-CLEAR CRISPR platform, whose core IP originated inside Benson Hill.
